The Dean of Students Department is responsible for student welfare at MUBS, supporting academic goals, and stimulating social, leadership, and personal development. It coordinates with faculties, academic departments, and administrative offices to manage student affairs and advocates for student rights in line with school policies.
Government-sponsored students are entitled to a living-out allowance of UGX 708,750 per semester, which covers food and accommodation. The department has a dedicated desk to manage their needs and ensure timely support.
Students admitted under the disability scheme receive a disability allowance for medication, a living-out allowance, and assistance from assigned helpers. They are also recommended for extra time during exams to accommodate their needs.
The department recognizes and supports various legally accepted student associations, including Academic Associations, Cultural Associations, and Clubs. Students interested in joining or forming associations should register with the Student Relations Section.
The Student Relations Section manages students’ personal and interpersonal relations, supports academically challenged students, coordinates international students’ activities, and oversees academic and cultural associations. International students and those interested in associations should register with this section.
The Counseling Section offers confidential counseling services in a private room at the Dean of Students’ office. A trained counselor provides basic counseling, empowers students to handle peer challenges, and refers severe cases to appropriate centers. Students needing support should visit the office.
The Sports Section identifies and trains students interested in sports, with skilled coaches in various disciplines. Students can compete at national, university, and international levels, and top performers may receive tuition waivers or allowances. Interested students should register with the Sports Section.
The Hostel Section provides information on privately owned hostels, including contacts and price lists, and assists students in securing accommodation. It maintains a database of students’ residences for security purposes. Students needing help should contact the Dean of Students’ office.
The Guild Section organizes free and fair elections for guild positions, including chief fresher elections for first-year students. It provides leadership training, communication allowances, and facilitates benchmark visits for guild leaders. The section fosters a strong relationship between students and management.
The department organizes the annual Freshers’ Welcome Party for first-year students and supports various student-led events through its sections, such as sports competitions, cultural activities, and leadership training programs.
